The Goat Trust and Shunya Agritech partner to bring 365-day nutrition to goat farmers
The partnership will train goat farmers on year-round nutrition, demonstrate hydroponic fodder systems, and build models that can scale across India.
Shunya Agritech and The Goat Trust have signed a partnership to fix a problem that limits goat farming across rural India: green fodder isn't available year-round.
Goat farming gives small and marginal households a low-cost way into livestock income: little land, little capital, quick returns. Nutrition holds the sector back, though. Green fodder availability swings hard across the year, and farmers fall back on seasonal grazing, crop residue and whatever feed they can find locally.
The partnership puts farmer engagement first, not just technology. Shunya Agritech and The Goat Trust will run training sessions and workshops, demonstrate hydroponic fodder production, and work directly with farmers on scientific feeding and year-round nutrition planning, showing them how fresh fodder fits into the practices they already follow.
The programme covers farmer demonstrations, training sessions, workshops, field visits and outreach to FPOs, livestock organisations and government bodies. A hydroponic fodder facility at The Goat Trust's Lucknow campus becomes a live training and demonstration site, while the wider programme reaches farmers and goat-rearing communities directly in the field. Both organisations will track adoption, fodder production, costs and farmer feedback, and use that data to build models other regions can copy.
Regions with limited land, irrigation or dependable green fodder stand to gain the most. The Goat Trust brings its reach into small livestock farming communities. Shunya Agritech brings livestock nutrition science, hydroponic fodder technology and its ProductionOS platform. Together, the two organisations plan to move farmers from awareness to demonstration, training and adoption.
