Shunya’s effort to further empower Super-women of Rural India

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilience, strength, and invaluable contribution of women in agriculture. Across rural India, women have traditionally played a crucial role in livestock rearing and dairy farming, often spending hours cutting, harvesting, and carrying traditional green fodder to feed their cattle. At Shunya Agritech, we recognize these challenges and are committed to reducing this burden on women while creating new opportunities for women in the agricultural ecosystem.

Transforming the Role of Women in Livestock Rearing

For generations, the responsibility of feeding cattle has fallen upon women, requiring strenuous labor that consumes valuable time and effort. Shunya’s Hydroponic Green Fodder solution is changing this narrative. By offering a ready-to-use, nutrient-rich fodder through a Tech-enabled Fodder-as-a-Service (FaaS) model, we eliminate the need for women to spend hours harvesting fodder. This reduces drudgery, saves time, and allows women to focus on income-generating activities, education, and family well-being.

Creating Employment for Women in Our Growth & Logistics Centres (GLCs)

Beyond reducing labor, Shunya is actively creating employment opportunities for women. At our Growth & Logistics Centres (GLCs), we employ women as associates, providing them with stable, formal employment with fair wages and upskilling opportunities. By training women in working with technology-based processes, we equip them with skills, making them active stakeholders for their families and society at large, in the future.

Partnering with Women as Saarthi Partners

Our Saarthi Partner model empowers women as key players in the last-mile delivery of Shunya’s hydroponic green fodder. As Saarthi Partners, women act as community leaders, helping fellow farmers adopt better nutrition practices for their cattle, promoting digital literacy, and facilitating seamless access to our FaaS platform. This not only provides them with an additional source of income but also elevates their status as agribusiness professionals in their communities.

The Future: Women Entrepreneurs as Production Partners

Looking ahead, Shunya is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs by integrating them into our Production Partner model. By providing access to hydroponic farming technology, financial support, and training, we aim to enable women-led agri-enterprises to run Growth & Logistics Centres. This initiative will help create self-sustaining women-led businesses, reinforcing financial independence and long-term empowerment.

Celebrating Women’s Contribution to a Sustainable Future

This Women’s Day, we honor the women who nurture, sustain, and uplift the agricultural landscape of India. At Shunya, we remain committed to building an inclusive and equitable ecosystem where women are not just participants but leaders in shaping the future of agritech. Together, we are redefining traditional roles, transforming livelihoods, and creating a more prosperous, empowered rural India.

Here’s to the women who grow, nurture, and lead – today and every day!
